Man as Solar principle

As Earth is the center of the Moon’s orbit, we can regard the Moon as its most remote representation, cast out by Earth. As mentioned before, we can see the Moon as the outpost in space of Earth and its inhabitants, mankind.
By the same analogy, within the sphere of the Moon, we can view Earth and individual Man as a Solar principle, as the Sun of that field (14.1).

The Sun as role model

The end goal of the construction of a Self is to detach from outer identifications and start functioning from one’s own center. The Sun serves as our role model in this. He does not move around in the Solar System, but keeps rotating in its central place in his own, self-cast field. In this field, all other celestial bodies follow their course, that is, pass through their own developmental process.

The Sun as the ultimate I-sayer

So the Sun does not follow an orbit, but merely rotates on its axis (comparable to our position when standing exactly on top of the polar axis). So for this Solar System, the Sun functions as its true centre. From the Sun, the whole system has been projected outward and is being filled with life. This makes the Sun the ultimate I-sayer.

Switching centers

Bearing in mind the function of Uranus, we can now see how the following steps of development unfold:
For our Self-identification, the interplay between Moon and Saturn signifies the breach (Uranus) of the bonding with the mother in the form of omnipresent Nature (the circumference of the circle – 6.1), the Cosmic Mother. The border shifts that occur, through the Moon, during the growth of the Saturnian Self, imply frequent breaches (Uranus) with the authorities, the father (Saturn) and/or the clan. In this authority crisis, the center point, Earth, through the Moon mirror, is claimed back and then takes over control.
In the horoscope, we map out our planetary environment as seen from Earth, that is, with Earth as its center. This is an important point (9.3, 11.1). In Nature’s grand evolutionary scheme, Man, through this Self-formative process and the corresponding shift of his center point, contributes to the next life form. From our dimension as its natural state, he opens up, through his Self (3.1), a new field of revelation, as it were.
So the horoscope mirrors our image back to us through the Moon. Therefore, in order to be able to provide a meaningful outcome, the horoscope figure should be regarded as a Lunar form of expression.

The Sun as derivative of Earth

As discussed before (1.2), the Zodiac is not a real belt of actual physical stars, but a projection that has been cast from Earth. In the horoscope chart, the Sun’s position is registered as it appears in this projected trajectory.

So the Sun is being depicted as if it were a planet, orbiting Earth. This means that for its astrological core meaning, the Sun should be regarded as a derivative of Earth, forming part of the energetic field around Earth.

Western astrology works with this conversion as a whole. This is important for our understanding of horoscopy.

A humanized Universe

So the horoscope offers us the image of a human Universe, where Man, as the center, shows an analogous correlation with the Sun in its own Solar System. All information that may be obtained from the horoscope can only be traced back to that initial point of observation: an individual human being who has been placed center-stage. All displayed factors are derivatives of himself.

This is essential !

The Moon as summarizer of the horoscope

Finally, by enveloping this humanized center, bound in time and place, the Moon summarizes the horoscopic image as a whole (9.1).

The Moon is therefore considered to be the ruler of the entire horoscope.

Ready to continue

Our exploration so far can be regarded as an anchoring of the individual horoscope.
Readers who have followed our exploration so far, will have gained some understanding of the Moon’s comprehensive function by now. In the next chapter, we will discuss this subject in greater detail.
